3-star September Umrah packages — from £557

Our 3-star September Umrah packages are the value option, and in September they are the ones that move first. Seven nights from £557, ten nights from £672, fourteen nights from £789. You stay at the Infinity Hotel or Al Tayseer Towers in Makkah, both approx. 10 minutes’ walk from Masjid al-Haram, or at Al Kiswah Tower, which runs a shuttle taking approx. 5–7 minutes. Rooms are clean and air-conditioned with a private bathroom; you are paying for location and reliability rather than luxury.

4-star September Umrah packages — from £657

The 4-star September Umrah packages cost roughly £100 more than the equivalent 3-star and buy you noticeably better rooms. Seven nights from £657, ten from £772, fourteen from £876. Makkah stays are at Al Ebaa, Makarem Um Al Qura or Emaar Grand; in Madinah you are at Nusk Al Hijra, Waqf Osman Ebn Offan or Saja Al Madinah, the last of these approx. 5 minutes’ walk from Masjid an-Nabawi and in the middle of the shopping district.

5-star September Umrah packages — from £870

Our 5-star September Umrah packages put you as close to the Haram as it is possible to be. Seven nights from £870, ten from £927, fourteen from £1,084. Jabal Omar Hyatt Regency is approx. 2 minutes’ walk from Masjid al-Haram and DoubleTree by Hilton Makkah Jabal Omar approx. 3 minutes; in Madinah, Al Haram Hotel by Al Rawda is approx. 2 minutes from Masjid an-Nabawi and Anwar Al Madinah Mövenpick approx. 5. If you are travelling with elderly parents, this is the tier worth stretching for, and we will say so plainly.

Why Choose September for Umrah?

Makkah and Madinah weather in September

September in Makkah is hot. Daytime temperatures typically reach approx. 38–41°C, easing to approx. 26–29°C overnight. Madinah runs broadly similar, often a degree or two lower with less humidity. That is cooler than July and August, but it is not mild, and it is worth planning around rather than hoping for.

In practice most pilgrims perform Tawaf and Sa’i after Maghrib or in the hours before Fajr, rest through the middle of the day, and use the shaded and air-conditioned areas of the Haram in the afternoon. If you are travelling with elderly parents or young children, build that rhythm in from day one.

How busy is the Haram in September?

Noticeably quieter than Ramadan, and quieter than the December and school-holiday peaks. You will find more space in the mataf, shorter queues at the gates, and a calmer pace overall. It is not empty — the Grand Mosque never is — but the difference against Ramadan is substantial. We have written more on why September suits UK pilgrims if you want the longer version.

September for families and the school calendar

September falls just after the UK summer holidays, which cuts both ways. Flights are cheaper than they were in August and the Kingdom is quieter, but most UK schools return in the first week of September. Families with school-age children usually need the final days of August or authorised absence. Tell us early and we will price both. If the dates do not work, October Umrah packages are the next sensible window.

All nine September prices are quoted on four sharing, which is what keeps the 3-star seven-night package at £557. Triple, double and single occupancy are available on every package and priced on request — as a rule, the fewer people in the room, the higher the per-person cost.

Which UK airports we depart from

Direct flights to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah operate from London Heathrow, Manchester and Birmingham, and direct routing is available on request. From any other UK airport — including London Gatwick, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bradford-Leeds, Belfast and Aberdeen — your journey involves a connection, usually through a Gulf hub. There is no direct service from any UK airport to Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah. If your itinerary starts or ends in Madinah, that leg is a connecting flight.

Direct and connecting routes

A direct flight from London Heathrow to Jeddah takes approx. 6–7 hours. A connecting route through a Gulf hub typically runs approx. 9–12 hours in total, depending on the layover and the carrier. The trade is straightforward: direct costs more and gets you there sooner; connecting costs less and adds most of a day. We book with carriers including Saudi Airways, Qatar Airways, Emirates and Etihad Airways, and the operating airline for your booking is confirmed on your ticket.

Baggage allowance

Our September package prices are quoted on a hand-baggage basis. Checked baggage is added at the time of booking and priced by carrier and fare type — ask us for the figure when you request your quote, because it is the item most likely to change what you pay. Zamzam water cannot be carried in checked or cabin baggage on most airlines; it is handled separately and we will explain how before you fly.

September Umrah Itinerary from the UK (Day-by-Day)

This is how a 10-night September package usually runs, with five nights in Makkah and five in Madinah. A 7-night package compresses this to four and three; a 14-night gives you seven and seven. Timings shift with your flight, and your own itinerary is confirmed in writing before you travel.

Day 1 — Departure from the UK

You depart from Heathrow, Manchester or Birmingham for Jeddah, or for Madinah via a connecting flight, depending on the routing confirmed for your booking. If you are flying straight to Umrah, you enter Ihram before crossing the Miqat — most airlines announce this, and we will tell you what to expect. 

Day 2 — Arrival in Makkah and your first Umrah

You land in Jeddah, clear immigration, and transfer to your Makkah hotel. Once you have checked in and rested, you perform your first Umrah: Tawaf, Sa’i, then Halq or Taqsir. Your entry slot at Masjid al-Haram is booked through Nusuk. September evenings are far more comfortable than afternoons, so most groups go after Maghrib.

Day 3 — Worship and rest in Makkah

Take today slowly and let the travel fatigue ease. Pray your five in Masjid al-Haram, fit in voluntary Tawaf if you have the energy, and give your body time to adjust to the heat and the time difference. First-time pilgrims consistently underestimate how much this day matters.

Day 4 — Optional second Umrah

If you want to perform a second Umrah, you travel to the nearest Miqat — Masjid Aisha at Tan’eem is the usual choice — to enter Ihram again. A separate Nusuk permit is required for each Umrah, so this needs booking in advance rather than deciding on the day. The rest of the day is yours for Quran and quiet.

Day 5 — Ziyarat in Makkah

A guided visit to the historic sites around Makkah: Jabal al-Nour and the Cave of Hira, Jabal Thawr, and the plains of Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah. These are Hajj sites, visited outside the Hajj season for their history rather than as part of Umrah rites. Day 6 — Travel to Madinah

You check out of your Makkah hotel and travel to Madinah, either on the Haramain high-speed train (approx. 2 hours) or by coach (approx. 5–6 hours). We will tell you which applies to your package before you book, because it makes a real difference to how the day feels.

Day 7 — Worship at Masjid an-Nabawi

The day is given to prayer at the Prophet’s Mosque. Your Rawdah visit is booked through Nusuk and issued for a specific time slot — you cannot simply turn up. Send your salutations at the Prophet’s resting place, peace be upon him.

Day 8 — Ziyarat in Madinah

Visit Masjid Quba, Masjid al-Qiblatain, the site of the Battle of Uhud and the Seven Mosques. Madinah’s sites sit closer together than Makkah’s and the pace is gentler, which suits anyone who found Day 5 tiring. If you are at Al Aqeeq or Saja Al Madinah, Al Baqi cemetery and Quba Mosque are both an easy trip.

Day 9 — Final worship and reflection

A last full day in Madinah, usually split between prayer at Masjid an-Nabawi and the markets around the mosque. If you want a final Rawdah slot, book it through Nusuk early in the week rather than leaving it to now.

Day 10 — Return to the UK

You transfer to Madinah or Jeddah airport for your return flight to the UK. Check your Zamzam arrangements before you leave the hotel — this is where people most often come unstuck.

Umrah Visa and Nusuk Support

How the Saudi Umrah visa works

The Saudi Umrah visa fee is included in all nine September packages. We provide Nusuk support and guidance throughout the application — which documents are needed, what format they must be in, and when to submit them. Issuance is decided by the Saudi authorities, and neither the outcome nor the timescale is within our control. For a Saudi Umrah visa you will need a completed application form, two recent passport-size photographs, a passport valid for at least six months, your flight and hotel vouchers, and — if you are not a British national — your British Residence Permit. You will also need your MenACWY vaccination certificate. Requirements are set by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and change from time to time, so check the current position before you travel. 

What Nusuk registration covers

Nusuk is the Saudi government platform for pilgrims, and registration is mandatory for everyone performing Umrah, whatever visa type you hold. It is not an optional extra.

• Your Rawdah appointment at Masjid an-Nabawi

A permit is required for each Umrah you perform, so a second Umrah needs its own booking. Carry the permit on your phone and keep a printed copy — phones run out of battery in the heat more often than you would think.

Booking your Rawdah permit

The Rawdah is capacity-controlled and slots are released through Nusuk on a rolling basis, with popular times going quickly. We show you how to book and when to look, but the booking is made in your own Nusuk account, under your own name.

Before You Travel: Vaccinations, Passport and Insurance

Four things to sort early. None takes long, and all four cause problems when left late.

Travelling with Family, Elderly Parents or as a Women’s Group

September works well for family travel, mostly because the evenings are manageable and the crowds are lighter. A few practical points.

For elderly parents or anyone with limited mobility, distance from the Haram matters more than star rating. Jabal Omar Hyatt Regency at approx. 2 minutes’ walk will serve them better than a hotel at approx. 10 minutes, whatever the room looks like.

For children, the constraints are the heat and the walking. Plan Tawaf for after Maghrib, keep the middle of the day for rest at the hotel, and expect the Ziyarat days to be the tiring ones. Cots and extra beds are subject to hotel availability and requested at the time of booking — Jumeirah Jabal Omar and Jabal Omar Hyatt Regency both list free cribs.

How to Book and What You Pay When

3. Pay your deposit: A deposit secures your booking; the amount payable is confirmed at the point of booking and set out in our booking conditions. You receive written confirmation setting out exactly what is and is not included, including the checked baggage cost.
4. Send your documents: Passport, photograph and MenACWY certificate. We guide you through Nusuk registration and the visa application.
5. Pay the balance and receive your documents: ATOL Certificate, tickets, hotel confirmations and full itinerary.

Deposit, balance and payment schedule

A deposit secures your booking, with the amount payable confirmed at the point of booking and set out in our booking conditions. We do not publish a fixed balance date; our booking conditions ask you to pay the balance as early as you can, because a deposit secures the reservation but does not fix the fare. Airline prices can move until tickets are issued. We accept bank transfer, debit and credit card, and instalment plans on request. Full terms are in our booking terms and conditions.

Changes, cancellations and refunds

If you cancel your package before flight tickets, hotel rooms and transport have been issued, our booking conditions apply an administration fee of 50% per passenger on your deposit. Once flight tickets have been issued they are generally non-refundable, and any refund is determined by the airline, with an administration fee per passenger applied to that too. We respond to refund and amendment requests within 48 hours. Complaints should be made in writing within 2 days of the event, or within 7 days of your return. Read the booking conditions in full before you pay anything — they are stricter than many pilgrims expect, and we would rather you knew now.
